The most delicious and freshest pizza I ever tasted!!! There is a line but it was worth it and your pizza is ready when you reach the counter! Wish we had one in Sonoma County!
If there's only one thing you can try in Berkeley, let it be this. The best part about studying at Cal for me was this pizza (go bears!) Even if you normally don't like pizza or vegetarian, try this. You won't regret it. The dough is not regular pizza dough, it's sourdough with the right amount of chewiness. MUST eat with the green sauce. Line is always long but it goes very fast. Only one pizza flavor per day but really can't go wrong with any flavor. The ambience is nice with live local band during certain time.
Amazing pizza! The line is always very long but moves quickly. The pizza is also great if you bring it home and reheat it in the oven. They were really generous with the half pizza. The sourdough crust is soooo good.
The slices as cheeseboard are things of legend among Berkeley locals. Yes, there is often a line running out the door. But its often worth it for a mid-afternoon weekend snack. I love when they serve up the California corn slices, but haven't found a way to predict when it will be on the menu. The Cheeseboard is definitely known for its pizza, but they also have a full bakery and sell cheese. I like to get a pastry or two for the next morning. PRO-TIP: Pick up a "parbaked" pizza and bring it home so its toasty hot in the comfort of your own living room. To finish the baking at home, warm up your oven to 400 degrees and then throw in for 6-8 minutes. Baam! Its all done. Super easy. Parking in the area of this place can be challenging. Sometimes I have to park a few blocks away.
Long lines but worth it! Their pizza of the day is posted online so definitely check ahead of time since they only make 1 kind of pizza everyday. This day was the fig, feta, and arugula pizza and omg it was the best vegetarian pizza I have ever had. Been looking for it to come back ever since! Such a great vibe to eat here with friends if you're lucky enough to find a seat!
We went with friends and got the pre-Thanksgiving wild mushroom pizza. It was good. There was live musing that was also good. It was interesting to watch the process of the team fabricating the massive quantities of pizzas. Was the pizza the most amazing thing I've ever eaten? No. Was it enjoyable and flavorful? Yes. Was it a quintessential Berkeley experience that I should have done for the first time as a student? Yes. I'm glad I finally went and experienced it for myself.
Yum yum! Don't be afraid of a little line. They are organized & pros at getting you the best pizza ever as fast as humanly possible! We've been coming here for decades! This day was my fav pizza, cilantro, corn & onion. Fabulous! Their pizzas are veggie only, no meat. One type of pizza each day. Look up online to see what kind they are serving. But truly, any day, it will be fabulous! There is seating inside & out. Staff is working hard and still kind & pleasant!
Simple and cool spot! I went on a Wednesday around 6:30pm and there was a line of about 10 people, but it moved quickly. If you have a special request like vegan or gluten free, go to the counter before waiting in line. There was also a live band and a decent amount of outdoor seating. They only have one kind of pizza a day, but the quality was exceptional. They also have this delicious green spicy sauce (medium/mild spicy) and roasted garlic (which they don't advertise). This place had been on my list for a while and I will definitely be back!
By far the best pizza in town!! It's been years since I've been here and it is still as good as before. I love their simple menu which is 1 style of veggie pizza per day because who needs choices when one tastes great. We decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch since we were in the area. We went into the Collective first thinking that they had pizza there but realized that they are a bakery and only sold cheeses and breads. We did get a Asiago Olive bread and it was delicious! The inside was soft and the outside was crispy. Then we proceeded next door to order our pizza. Because my husband doesn't like mushrooms, he ordered one whole pizza without it. There is a separate line for that which was way shorter. The pizza was extremely crispy and full of flavor! Loved that the spinach was a bit burnt and it paired well with the cheeses, pine nuts, and parsley! $24 for a whole pizza is actually not a bad price, especially if you're sharing. I could eat an entire pizza on my own if I wanted to! They are closed Sunday and Monday so best to stop by on Saturday if you can. They also have live jazz music inside which makes it an even better experience, especially on a nice and sunny day!
The line looks intimidating, but it goes by fast! I love that they rotate pizzas and have creative combinations. Parking is tough but if you're lucky, you can get a close enough street parking. They also have live music sometimes! The green sauce is a must. It adds tang and spice. Can't wait to come back for more!!
